UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet)
UNESCO Associated Schools practice peace and international cooperation in order to realise the ideals of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as set forth in the Constitution of UNESCO.
There are more than 11,500 UNESCO Associated Schools in 182 countries and regions around the world. Of these, 1,149 pre-schools, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, schools for special needs education and teacher training colleges and universities are located in Japan (as of July 2018).
and the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO regard UNESCO Associated Schools as the base for ESD promotion and are making efforts to increase the number of member schools.
Objectives of UNESCO Associated Schools’ activities
- To share information and experiences through exchanges between schools around the world by utilizing the UNESCO ASPnet.
- To develop and refine new educational curricula and methods to prepare young people to deal with global issues.
