2025 Annual Report

Areas covered as subjects of study

Biodiversity, Climate change, Environment, Cultural diversity, World heritage/intangible cultural heritage/regional cultural properties, International understanding, Human rights, Gender equality, Welfare, Sustainable production and consumption

Verification of Curriculum Effectiveness

While collaborating across grade levels to foster students’ competencies and abilities, we regularly reviewed and improved the “ESD Calendar” and “Annual Teaching Plan.” Although some initiatives were hindered by the need for heat countermeasures due to climate change, new approaches were also developed. Furthermore, this year we have piloted initiatives in collaboration with the 2027 International Horticultural Expo.

B-to-B Initiatives

We conducted a social demonstration experiment by installing a PET bottle collection machine. Fourth graders, as part of their social studies curriculum, visited the Green Resource Sorting Center in the ward as an example of businesses supporting daily life. This was linked to the Yokohama City Resource Recycling Bureau’s 3R Promotion Division initiative, “Community-Based Bottle-to-Bottle,” with cooperation from Suntory for the collection process. Only bottles that had been properly rinsed were placed in the collection machine. During the visit to the sorting center, students experienced the unpleasant odor caused by unwashed bottles, which reinforced their understanding. As a result, they now rinse and separate bottles at home as part of their daily routine, demonstrating a shift toward applying what they have learned in practice.

Annual Work Plan

Utilization of the SDGs Diamond Chart

To help students become aware of how their activities are connected to the SDGs and what they have learned through these engagements, we conducted discussions and self-reflections using the “SDGs Diamond Chart.” This process has clarified individual transformations and overall trends at the school level. As longitudinal changes have begun to appear, we will continue these efforts and deepen our analysis.

Curriculum Design for the 2027 International Horticultural Expo (GxE2027)

In preparation for GxE2027, which will be held in Yokohama in 2027, various initiatives are being developed. In addition to our school’s original programs, we will implement activities in collaboration with the Expo Association, the Board of Education, and various companies.
