Thank you for visiting the official UNESCO ASPnet in Japan website (hereinafter ‘this site’). This site was built, and is currently managed, by the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) (hereinafter ‘site administrator’) as part of the UNESCO Future Co-creation Platform Project commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

Please read the following policies carefully before using this site. By using and/or visiting this site, you are deemed to have understood, and fully agree to, the terms and conditions stipulated by these policies.

The contents of this site are subject to change or discontinuation without prior notice.

Website Policies

1 Objectives

  • (1) To disseminate information about domestic and international trends pertaining to UNESCO ASPnet activities in tandem with the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO, and other National Commissions for UNESCO predominantly in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • (2) To collect and disseminate information for use in the field of education, such as information concerning exemplar activities carried out both in Japan and abroad that adhere to the objectives and themes of UNESCO ASPnet. This is so as to widely promote the attractiveness of UNESCO ASPnet and its practical utility within education.
  • (3) To provide information about UNESCO ASPnet membership applications and support eligible educational institutions within Japan with the membership application process.
  • (4) To enhance UNESCO ASPnet in Japan by providing its members and UNESCO ASPnet candidate schools (as well as their teachers) a platform to disseminate and share information pertaining to their specific initiatives.
  • (5) To provide access to a database of materials that can be utilised in educational settings, constituting high-quality teaching resources and tools.

2 Information on This Site

The information managed and displayed on this site shall be limited to the following:

  • Key information pertaining to the fundamental principles of UNESCO and UNESCO ASPnet activities.
  • Announcements and reports related to events, training programs, and other activities aligned with the objectives and themes of UNESCO ASPnet.
  • Information pertaining to UNESCO ASPnet members and UNESCO ASPnet candidate schools.
  • Other relevant information permitted by the site administrator.

3 Targeted Users

The following persons are eligible to use this site (hereinafter referred to as ‘users’):

  • ① Administrative and teaching staff representing UNESCO ASPnet member schools or UNESCO ASPnet candidates that have been authorised to use the login portal (hereinafter ‘registered users’).
  • ② Other users (hereinafter ‘general users’).

The site administrator may revoke the approval of a registered user if the following circumstances apply:

  • ① If the registered user violates any of the stipulations of the website policies.
  • ② When the UNESCO ASPnet membership of an educational institution to which the registered user is affiliated to is terminated.

4 Management of Account Usernames and Passwords (*Only applicable to registered users)

Registered users shall be responsible for the management of their account username and password.

  • (1) Account usernames and passwords shall be properly managed and stored in a secure location. They must be handed over to the respective person(s)-in-charge in the event of a change in personnel.
  • (2) Account usernames and passwords shall not be transferred to, or used by, a third party, nor shall they be sold or traded.
  • (3) In the event that an account’s username and/or password has been forgotten or stolen, the site administrator must be notified promptly.
  • (4) In the event of damage caused by negligent handling, or third party use, of an account’s username and/or password, the account user shall bear full responsibility for all damages.

5 Prohibitions

In handling the information detailed under point 2, users must refrain from the following:

  • Acts that constitute copyright infringement and/or a violation of human rights.
  • Acts that violate or may violate laws and regulations.
  • Acts committed with the primary aim of generating financial profit.
  • Acts that may disadvantage others.
  • Acts that interfere with the system or operation of this website.
  • Acts that disrupt public order and/or that may be considered immoral.
  • Acts that the site administrator deems inappropriate.

6 Removal of Posts/Content

If any content registered or posted by users is determined by the site administrator to be in violation of the policies specified, the site administrator may remove this information without prior notice.

7 Handling of Personal Information (Privacy Policy)

In the context of this policy, ‘personal information’ refers to personally identifiable information that has been obtained by the site administrator. This includes information that can be used to pinpoint individuals when used in conjunction with other available information. This privacy policy applies only to this site, and the handling of personal information by third-party websites of affiliated organizations is the responsibility of said organizations, not the site administrator.

  • (1) Scope of Information Collected
    • ・The internet domain from which users access this website and the Internet Protocol (IP) address.
    • ・Information provided by users via web forms or alternative methods determined by the site administrator.
  • (2) Cookies
    • This site uses Google Analytics, a web analytics tool that obtains and gathers data via cookies. Said data is collected anonymously and shall not be used to identify particular individuals. Users who do not wish to accept these cookies have the option of disabling them. However, registered users who have disabled cookies on their browser will not be able to utilise this site’s login function.   • (3) Restrictions Pertaining to the Use and Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
    • Aside from the objectives stipulated in point 1, the site administrator will not use the information collected through this site for other purposes. Further, the site administrator will not disclose or give this information to third parties unless required under extenuating circumstances including law enforcement or statute, illegal access, threats, or other illegal acts. However, statistical data comprising website traffic data and information about user attributes may be publicized.

8 Disclaimers

  • (1) The site administrator shall not be held liable for any damages or costs incurred by users resulting from the operation/suspension of, or disruptions to, this site.
  • (2) In the event that damage is inflicted on other users or a third party as a result of using this site, the user(s) in question shall be responsible for resolving the matter. The site administrator shall not be held liable for said damages.
  • (3) Any damages or problems arising from the use of this site shall be the responsibility of the user(s) in question. The site administrator shall not be held liable for said damages or problems.
