Report on the 2nd Indonesia–Japan Youth SDGs Forum

Here is our report on the “2nd Indonesia–Japan Youth SDGs Forum,” one of the major activities conducted this academic year.

The forum was held on Wednesday, August 6, and brought together participants from ten schools in Indonesia, including Indoonesian University of Education Laboratory High School of UPI and Kornita High School, a laboratry of IPB University (Bogor Agricultural University). The event took place at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, which was founded in 1954. Its main campus is located in Bandung, West Java, and the university offers a wide range of academic programs such as science, arts, and tourism with a stronge focus an eduction. UPI has maintained close collaborative ties with the University of Tsukuba, including partnerships through the SEA-Teacher International Teaching Practicum Program.

At the opening of the forum, we were deeply honored to receive a congratulatory address from Prof. Dr. H. Didi Sukyadi, the President of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Following the opening ceremony, a special lecture on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was delivered, followed by a poster session by high school and university students.

Subsequently, mixed groups consisting of high school students, university students, and teachers engaged in discussions enthusiastically, exchanging ideas with people from different backgrounds.At the end of the forum, each group presented the outcomes of their discussions, and all participants took part in selecting the team to receive the Best Collaboration Award. The forum concluded successfully in a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the faculty and students of Indoonesian University of Education Laboratory High School of UPI for their generous support and cooperation throughout the preparation and implementation of the forum.

• Implementation of an Indonesia fieldwork program in collaboration with university students
• Organization of the 3rd Indonesia–Japan Youth SDGs Forum
• Implementation and preliminary surveys for elective overseas fieldwork programs (Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Hawaii, etc.)
• Development of UNESCO School–oriented activities within “Integrated Studies” and elective subjects
• Organization of an International ESD Symposium for high school students
• Reciprocal exchange programs with sister schools (Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines)
• Expansion of sister school partnerships (Malaysia)
• Promotion of active participation in local community events
