2025 Annual Report

Our school aims to be a “traditional girls’ academic institution fostering students with high aspirations who never give up on their dreams,” and conducts UNESCO School activities as outlined below in ① to ③.

① International Understanding Education
・Australian English Training Program

Conducting discussions with numerous international exchange students
・Sunflower Cup School Speech Contest
・Hosting International Students
・International Days
① September 8: “International Literacy Day”
Opened a fair trade shop at the Culture Festival, donating proceeds to the “World Terakoya Movement.”
② Participated in the “Onigiri Action” for “World Food Day” and “Poverty Eradication Day” as a whole school. Students enjoyed trying international contributions with friends and family via the school’s SNS and personal accounts.
・EU Special Lecture
All Foreign Language Department students (Grades 1-3) received a lecture in English from the Belgian Ambassador to Japan.
・Online Exchange with Namhae High School, South Korea (Scheduled for February)
② Promoting SDGs as an ESD Base School
・Comprehensive Inquiry Time
Grades 1 and 2 formed mixed-grade workshops. This year, they considered solutions from an SDG perspective for social issues provided by 13 corporate/organizational partners and presented proposals. More projects were implemented compared to last year.
・Library Committee Activities
Used books sale at the Culture Festival, joint bibliotheque battles with other schools, etc.
・Promotion of the Zero Waste Campaign
・Exchange with Special Needs Schools
・English-based Elementary-High School Exchange
・Collaborated with social welfare facilities to hold regular product sales on campus.

③ Peace Education
・Okinawa School Trip (2nd Year)
Learned about civilian casualties during the Battle of Okinawa in WWII and the ongoing base issues.
・Debate & Discussion
Studied various social issues like racial problems, international conflicts, and discrimination in class, conducting debates and presentations in English.

The school incorporates a Foreign Language Department and places strong emphasis on international understanding and peace education. Furthermore, through the “Integrated Inquiry Time (Spring Girls’ Comprehensive Inquiry Project)”, it has collaborated with numerous companies and organizations centered on the SDGs, aiming to realize a sustainable society. These efforts have received high praise from various quarters, including designation by the prefecture as a “School Promoting Interdisciplinary Learning”.
