2025 Annual Report
Biodiversity, Climate change, Energy, Environment, International understanding, Peace, Human rights, Sustainable production and consumption, Global Citizenship Education (GCED)
Our school, guided by the spirit of the UNESCO Charter’s preamble – “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed” – strives to cultivate global leaders who contribute to world peace. We pursue this goal by embracing the educational objectives of ‘Creativity,’ ‘Autonomy,’ and ‘Respect.’
【Global Citizenship and a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence】
・December 9-19: The “Connecting with Palestine Photo Exhibition – Understanding the World, Thinking Globally,” organized by the NPO PALESTINE CONNECT PHOTO PROJECT MACLUBA, was held in the lobby in front of the school library. Many students visited and learned about the importance of peace.
・In preparation for the February 21st Research Presentation Meeting, second-year students conducted research activities and made presentations on the theme “Considering What It Means to Build Peace Based on the ‘Sanctity of Life’.”
【Cross-Cultural Learning and Respect for Cultural Diversity and Heritage】
・May 30th: The entire student body visited the Osaka-Kansai Expo, providing an opportunity to learn about world cultures.
・July 21–27: Representatives from the second and third grades visited Soka University of America, participated in training sessions alongside students from Colegio Soka do Brasil, and deepened their exchange.
・September 6: First-year students held a Global Camp welcoming 32 international students from 13 countries studying at Soka University. They learned about the diverse cultures existing in the world.
・September 28: Students from our school escorted students from South Korea’s Pigeong Girls’ Middle School on a visit to the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
・October 1: We welcomed students from South Korea’s Pigeong Girls’ Middle School to our school, holding an exchange meeting with all students to forge friendships.
・January 11-12: Participated in organizing the “2025 Osaka-Kansai ASPnet Collaborative Learning Asia-Nordic ASPnet International Forum” hosted by Osaka-Kansai ASPnet, holding discussions on the theme “Our Future.”
・February 20: Invited the Pablo Valle Sexteto from Argentina, the birthplace of tango, to perform at a school concert.
【Community Collaboration】
・March 8: Our school’s ISS EarthKAM Project Team exhibited at the ‘Environmental Festa in Katano’ event, hosted by the local citizen group Katano Environmental Festa Citizens’ Conference. Using photographs taken from the International Space Station, they presented an exhibition broadly advocating the importance of the environment.
・February 21: The “Inquiry Presentation Session” was held as a venue to present the results of a year-long effort in the “Inquiry” program. This program systematically develops students’ multifaceted thinking skills, cooperation, research skills, presentation skills, consensus-building skills, and ability to formulate questions. The session was open to both internal and external audiences.
【United Nations Days】
The monthly ‘Health Newsletter’ published by the Health Room featured columns on World Health Day (March 24), World Health Day (April 7), World No Tobacco Day (May 31), World Blood Donor Day (June 14), World Hepatitis Day (July 28), World Diabetes Day (November 14), and World AIDS Day (December 1st). Students learned about the significance of these days.
Annual Work Plan
This year marks the second year since our school was recognized as a UNESCO School.
In addition to our annual initiatives, we will renew and implement the peace study program: instead of second-year students visiting Hiroshima, third-year students will visit Okinawa.
Furthermore, we aim to deepen our activities as a UNESCO Associated School by enhancing international school exchanges and overseas study programs, including those with overseas sister schools like Soka International School Malaysia. We will also actively participate in the Osaka/Kansai ASPnet Collaborative Learning Exchange.
