ESD Activity Report Under our school philosophy, “Cultivating Educated Individuals Who Soar into the Future and the World,” we position ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) as the foundation of our holistic education. Our goal is to enable students to achieve both self-actualization and social contribution through ESD practices. Specifically, we implement a six-year “Global Studies” program as our core pillar, encompassing SDG-related learning, group activities, volunteer and field work, and English presentations.

As a new initiative this year, we held cross-cultural exchange classes for second-year students with international students from approximately 18 countries. They created booths to introduce their native cultures, providing an experiential learning opportunity that further enriched our education for international peace.

In our “Period for Integrated Studies,” we conducted “SDG Learning,” “Regional Studies,” and “Traditional Culture Studies” to help students broaden their perspectives, understand issues from multiple angles, and thrive as global citizens. Each student set their own research theme based on the SDGs.

Key Activities of the Year Lower Secondary Level (Grades 1-3):

SDG Learning: In collaboration with Palsystem Gunma, we held workshops on “Nokorizome” (natural dyeing from food waste) and ethical consumption. We also hosted lectures by Dr. Satoshi Imura (National Institute of Polar Research) on the Antarctic environment and Ms. Sayaka Maruoka (JICA Uganda) on international cooperation.

Regional Studies: First-year students attended lectures by Isesaki City Hall officials to discuss local challenges and proposed their own policy recommendations. They also visited Meisei Electric Co., Ltd. to learn about cutting-edge technology.

Traditional Culture: Students engaged in Japanese tea ceremony, flower arrangement (Ikebana), and lectures on Heian literature and “Isesaki Meisen” silk weaving to deepen their pride in and understanding of Japanese heritage.

Upper Secondary Level (Grades 4-6): Advanced Research:

Fourth-year students visited the University of Tokyo to share their research with the Faculty of Engineering’s Metaverse School, broadening their academic insights.

Global Leadership: Fifth-year students participated in the “Overseas Global Leader Training” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After returning, they synthesized their findings into essays and presentations.

Whole-School Initiatives:

Our JRC and Interact Club led a “Food Drive,” donating food collected from families to Food Bank Kita-Kanto. The six-year “Mirai Tankyu” (Future Inquiry) culminated in each student writing a thesis on their individual SDG themes, sharing their results through school-wide presentations.

International Days:

To commemorate World Food Day, we donated food to the Isesaki City Council of Social Welfare. For Human Rights Day, we held workshops on DET (Disability Equality Training) to foster a deeper sense of human rights and empathy among students.
