International College of Technology

The International College of Technology is a higher education institution that aims to produce global innovators capable of creating new value and thriving in a rapidly changing society.

<Engineering Design Education>

This program features second-year students at our school tackling local agricultural challenges through a course that explores solutions from both technical and business perspectives. The Tech Team provides technical support for wildlife damage prevention to protect potatoes, while the Business Team aims to revitalize the region by marketing the protected potatoes as a local brand. This year, wildlife damage has occurred in various regions across Japan. As an initiative combining crop protection with regional revitalization, we are advancing this project with the cooperation of local residents.

<Sustainable Production and Consumption Initiatives>

The crops cultivated through the preceding engineering design project will serve as part of our regional revitalization efforts. Through collaborative events with local residents, we will also learn about balancing production and consumption. On Saturday, November 29, 2025, at kuru,ru. / Ono Bicycle Base, a joint project between “kuru,ru.” and the International College of Technology featured sales of original “Kosen Beni Haruka” goods and clay-pot baked sweet potatoes. Moving forward, we will continue working to discover and solve local issues, aiming for regional revitalization and the creation of a sustainable society. These efforts will also continue as part of our ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) initiatives.

<Approaches to Cultural Diversity>

One of the distinctive features of the International College of Technology is that over half of its faculty members are foreign nationals, recruited from diverse countries. Consequently, students have numerous opportunities to encounter diverse cultures throughout their school life. The college also organizes seasonal events, valuing opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to learn together.

<International Understanding Initiatives>

For over 40 years, International College of Technology has maintained exchanges with students from its sister school, Singapore Polytechnic. This year, students from Singapore Polytechnic visited our school, enabling us to organize various exchange activities. Interactions between students from different countries not only broaden horizons but also provide valuable opportunities to understand each other’s cultures and differences. Students promptly exchanged contact information and look forward to continuing these exchanges in the future.

<One-Year Study Abroad Program>

A defining feature of the International College of Technology’s educational program is the one-year study abroad for third-year students. All students participate in this program at the National Otago Polytechnic, located on New Zealand’s South Island. During this period, all students live with host families, experiencing daily life and academic study in a foreign country. This experience allows them to build upon their accumulated knowledge and further enhance their international perspective. Crucially, the focus is not solely on language acquisition; students actively participate in regular academic courses alongside local students to earn credits.

The International College of Technology aims to cultivate global innovators, enabling students to experience diverse cultures and societies through education and expand their potential. We provide learning opportunities through varied experiences—from local societal challenges encountered in engineering education to global issues gained through study abroad—while seeking a space where students and faculty can mutually elevate one another.

Annual Work Plan

International College of Technology’s Activity Plan for 2026

The International College of Technology plans to continue similar activities next year. Specifically, we will steadily implement the following initiatives:

① We will create learning opportunities through collaboration with the local community via engineering design education. Specifically, in the 2025 academic year, we will continue to provide students with learning opportunities related to the SDGs and ESD through initiatives centered on engineering subjects. These initiatives involve collaboration and co-creation with the local community to realize a sustainable society. Students will experience agricultural business while aiming to create new value in declining rural communities.

② Regarding cultural diversity initiatives, we will strive to build a diverse campus. Specifically, we will implement exchanges with students from other countries to deepen understanding of multicultural coexistence. We will also work to enhance understanding of the global society and broaden perspectives through study abroad programs.

③ To realize global citizenship, we will promote exchanges not only with faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds but also by utilizing the UNESCO School Network.
