Our school views Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as problem-solving learning aimed at achieving the SDGs within the local community and as inquiry-based activities addressing international issues. Under the theme “Realizing ‘KOBE Chosen by the Next Generation’: Cultivating Practitioners Who Carry the Future of the Local Community and Soar into the World,” we have established a system for sustainable educational activities geared towards “ESD for 2030.” We collaborate with local industry, government, academia, and civic organizations (companies, universities, administrative agencies, community groups, etc.) to involve all students in the following inquiry-based learning activities. We believe that striving to contribute to problem-solving and goal achievement in our region (Kobe City and Hyogo Prefecture) leads to the cultivation of human resources with multifaceted, locally-rooted perspectives. Furthermore, by organizing a curriculum that integrates SDG-related activities with a focus on STEAM education, we are developing a human resource development program capable of creating new value for regional challenges.

Annual Work Plan

In the 2026 academic year, we will further deepen collaboration among industry, government, and academia, and transition our inquiry-based activities focused on well-being to the phase of “social implementation.” We aim to verify the insights gained from the previous year’s regional practices and establish them as sustainable models led by students. In our international understanding education, we will promote dialogues with international students aimed at multicultural coexistence. Furthermore, through our joint scientific research with High School for Gifted Students, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, we aim to present our findings at international venues. In addition, we will continue our study tour to the UK while enhancing the quality and depth of the program. Finally, by maintaining and expanding our exchange networks with multinational students and our sister school in Taiwan, and by promoting in-depth collaborative projects in specific fields such as arts and sciences, we strive to cultivate human resources capable of integrating diverse values and leading the next generation’s global society.
