2025 Annual Report

Areas covered as subjects of study

Cultural diversity, International understanding, Peace, Human rights, Poverty, Global Citizenship Education (GCED)

Guided by the school motto, “A Person with Others, A Person for Others,” our school has long valued international education, and aims to nurture individuals who can live with others through “Coexistence, Collaboration, and Service”. Our educational activities as a UNESCO school are based on two pillars: building a multicultural society and developing students with the skills and resources for a sustainable future.

In 2025, our students have developed themselves by participating in prayers, religious activities, inquiry-based learning, lectures and workshops. Furthermore, our students greatly enjoyed other extracurricular activities like experiential learning, volunteer activities, and overseas study and exchange programs.

As a result, students have acquired a positive and resilient attitude toward challenges as well as strong communication skills. An increasing number of students are engaging in overseas projects, and the school culture has been fostered in which global issues are viewed as crucial, and personal responsibilities.

Annual Work Plan

In the coming academic year, we plan to enhance our exchange programs with overseas sister schools by making them more collaborative and fulfilling. The following activities are currently being prepared: a two-week visit to our sister school in the United States in March; the acceptance of one student from our sister school in Thailand for one year; the reception of visiting students from our sister school in Taiwan in June; a two-week visit to our sister school in Australia in July; and a one-week visit by our students to our sister school in Taiwan in December.

Last year, under the newly established Aomori UNESCO Associated Schools Network, a Summer Exchange Program was conducted with three UNESCO schools in the prefecture. We plan to continue this program next year and we hope to design activities that deepen students’ learning through collaboration with other schools.

Furthermore, as a UNESCO school, we have started a “Special Japanese Language Support Examination” in response to the increase in students that move to Japan late in childhood. We will continue to explore more effective ways to support students with international backgrounds in learning Japanese.
