2025 Annual Report
Biodiversity, Disaster reduction/prevention, Environment, Cultural diversity, International understanding, Peace, Dietary education
Our organization aims to cultivate children who possess the strength, brightness, and resilience to thrive in life. We build our curriculum around this vision and the Swedish-originated outdoor classroom program, “Forest Mulle Classroom.”
In the “Forest Mulle Classroom,” children go outside every day, rain or shine. Infants experience the comfort and joy of being outdoors, while preschoolers learn about the “cycle of life” connected to sustainable development through activities incorporating nature-based environmental education.
By implementing the “Forest Mulle Classroom” year-round, children have been able to continue playing and learning vibrantly while experiencing the changing seasons.
In addition to flower beds, the three corporate nurseries have vegetable gardens where staff members watch over the growth of the plants while sowing seeds, watering, and weeding with the children. The children experience the joy of harvesting while feeling the seasons, and the harvested crops are eaten in school lunches or taken home to be eaten with their families. In addition, we are working to nurture future “guardians of the green earth” through initiatives such as Nagaoka City’s Flower-Filled Movement, crafts made from waste materials, and green curtains of bitter melon and morning glories.
In addition to monthly evacuation drills, we have been raising awareness of natural disasters by having the children ride in earthquake simulation vehicles to experience the shaking of an earthquake and participating in making “Shaka Shaka Onigiri” disaster food organized by JA.
When they reach the older age group, they also learn to play Japanese drums and perform at the Nagaoka Peace Festival, a festival of peace and remembrance.
Annual Work Plan
・We will continue our nature-based environmental education centered on the “Forest Mulle Classroom,” where children learn about and experience the “cycle of life” through outdoor activities.
・We will continue food education activities and flower-planting initiatives at each kindergarten through cultivating plants and crops, expanding these activities to include parents and the local community.
・We will create opportunities to reflect on and learn together with children about the importance of peace at appropriate times, such as during the Nagaoka Festival Peace Festival and International Peace Day.
